ACES Whitney Academy Promotes Fred C. Oglesby As New Assistant Principal
January 5th, 2023
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(North Haven, CT – January 5, 2023) Area Cooperative Educational Services (ACES) is pleased to announce the promotion of Fred C. Oglesby as the new Assistant Principal of ACES Whitney Academy. Mr. Oglesby has been with ACES for 30 years in various roles. Prior to accepting the role of Assistant Principal at ACES Whitney Academy, Mr. Oglesby spent the past two decades as Chairperson for Traditional Services at Whitney North. He will assist with leading ACES Whitney Academy in its work with special needs students between the ages of 14 to 21, who exhibit a range of cognitive, physical, behavioral, language, and medical challenges.
“We are thrilled to be able to continue to deliver excellent teaching and learning to our Whitney Academy students and their families with Fred Oglesby as the newly appointed Assistant Principal,” said Dr. Thomas Danehy, Executive Director of ACES. “His overall experience and skills embody the ACES mission of transforming lives through education, innovation, and leadership. Fred will continue to bring out the best in our students at Whitney Academy.”
Mr. Oglesby holds a sixth-year degree in Educational Leadership from Southern Connecticut State University. Additionally, he has a Masters of Social Work degree from Yeshiva University.
“I am honored to be appointed as the new Assistant Principal of ACES Whitney Academy. Whitney Academy provides unique and individualized services to our student population,” said Fred Oglesby. “The ultimate goal is to help students function well beyond the scope of school and to increase their quality of life. I am excited about the opportunity to continue to work with students in a new leadership capacity.”
ACES Whitney Academy is a therapeutic environment dedicated to serving special needs students. In addition to its academic mission, the school places a strong emphasis on transition related to life and work, including self-advocacy and self-determination. These areas establish the foundation for all student programming. The program also functions within the three transition areas (employment, independent living, and community participation), which are foremost in planning for ACES Whitney Academy students.
