ACES Human Capital coordinates the placement of interns, student teachers and student observers in our schools and programs. Our goal is to provide a robust experience; one that allows future educators to be fully immersed in our culture and work directly with our knowledgeable staff.

The Placement Process

ACES requests that Student Teachers and Interns:

  1. Complete an application via ACES online application system (Paycom)
  2. Upon receipt of placement application, Human Resources works with ACES Principals/Directors to determine the availability of a site supervisor/Cooperating Teacher. To minimize confusion, please do not contact Principals/Directors without contacting Human Resources and speaking with Scott Sadinsky.
  3. The Principal/Director will setup a time to meet the student.
  4. The Principal/Director of designee will communicate with Human Resources and the student about whether goals can be accommodated and, if so, who will supervise the student.

Expectations

All students are asked to work with their University/College Placement Coordinator to submit an application for placement via ACES online application system (Paycom).

Background Checks

After being accepted by ACES—and prior to working within our programs/schools—Student Teachers and Interns must complete the required background check.  Background paperwork will be shared with accepted students via the Paycom system and must be uploaded prior to the beginning of placement.

Fingerprinting

As of 7/26/2021, ACES has implemented the new State of Connecticut Criminal History Request System (CCHRS). All applicants must register with the CCHRS program before coming in to be fingerprinted. ACES will be charging a $25 service fee at the time of your appointment. (Payable in cash or debit/credit cards).

ACES will provide all student teachers with our agency/district Service Code, in order for them to pre-enroll and receive an “Applicant Tracking Number,” which is required for fingerprinting. Upon entering their information, an “Applicant Tracking Number” will be provided. The Applicant Tracking Number will be REQUIRED for the fingerprinting appointment. Any state or FBI fees will be paid online at the time of pre-enrollment. Students can contact Cara Schuler with any fingerprinting questions (203) 498-6801.

Once pre-enrolled students can schedule a fingerprinting appointment online here.

Fingerprinting is done at our Peter C. Young building located at 350 State Street, North Haven, CT.

The website to CCHRS website to pre-enroll is: PreEnrollment (idemia.io)

Observers

Requirements differ for students who need strictly observation hours for a short period of time that does not involve direct contact with students. Typically, students who are “observers” are not required to submit a background check.
