Assistive Technology
The ACES Assistive Technology Services Department consists of multiple highly-trained assistive technology (AT) professionals with backgrounds in Speech Language Pathology, Special Education, and Occupational Therapy. Some examples of AT include:
- Slant board
- Pencil grips
- Speech-to-text, text-to-speech usage
- Augmentative and Alternative Communications (AAC)
- Word prediction
- Eye gazes
- Switches

AT Evaluations

ACES Assistive Technology Services conducts Individual AT Evaluations completed by trained professional staff. Individual AT Evaluations are conducted directly with a student within their school setting based on the student’s AT needs. The evaluation process includes team interview(s), student observation, student assessment, and written report. We also provide Classroom AT Evaluations, addressing the classroom’s AT needs for reading, writing, math, communication, etc. A classroom evaluation consists of teacher interview, observation, and written report. AT Consultations/Continuation of Services
ACES Assistive Technology Services provide AT Consultations and Continuation of Services provide the staff with continuous training and updating of the student’s AT supports as needed. Our goal for consultations are to better support the staff and student to effectively utilize Assistive Technology. Benefits of consultations include:
- Provide customized and individualized training based on the students’ needs
- Develop the staff’s comfort level with AT
- The ability to address AT concerns promptly
- Training for new staff as the student transitions
