mbellmore@nhregister.com / Twitter:@bandangoCHESHIRE >> Cristina Chang-Bryant always wanted to open her own restaurant.
After a career as executive chef and culinary events coordinator for Hadco, a high end appliance distributor, she did, Sweetpea is a gourmet take-out place in Cheshire, the business Chang-Bryant, of Rocky Hill, always wanted to own.But fate dealt her cruel blow. She put in her notice at Hadco October 1, and the next day she discovered she had cancer.
Yet, even with stage 4 cancer, she kept on, giving up the security of a corporate job to pursue her dream.
”When I’m on my death bed, what would I have regretted?” Chang-Bryant said. “My one regret would have been not having my own business.”
Once it was up and running, Sweetpea catered an event at Wintergreen Interdistrict Magnet School in Hamden, catching the eye, and taste buds, of Ingrid Ellinger-Doviak, head of Wintergreen’s enrichment program.
