Students from Thomas Edison Middle School attended the Connecticut Educators Computer Association (CECA) Tech Expo in May.

ACES Educational Center for the Arts, Malenky Welsh from Branford, CT, won a place as one of the 10 finalists in the 34th annual English-Speaking Union National Shakespeare Competition in New York City. Malenky previously won the ESU Greenwich Branch competition.

Thanks to winning a highly competitive 2016-17 IRISS (Inquiry, Research & Investigations in Social Studies) inter-district grant, the Jerome Harrison School (JHS) teacher and her North Branford first graders collaborated regularly with a classroom of their peers at New Haven’s Nathan Hale School. The $8,800 grant, shared between the classrooms, was awarded through Area Cooperative Educational Services (ACES).

On March 29, 2017, ACES ACCESS DBA created centerpieces for Girl Scouts of Connecticut Inc. luncheon and discussion with distinguished author Amy Bloom. The program featured a Q&A format moderated by Faith Middleton.

ACES ServSafe students will be participating in the “Taste” portion of next week’s Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce Business Expo on Thursday, April 6, 2017.

ACES Director of Curriculum led a panel discuss on ACES Summer Academy, a summer school program for credit recovery and enrichment.

Malenky Welsh of Branford, 18, right, was the first place competition winner in the Greenwich English Speaking Union 33rd Annual Shakespeare Competition and Willow Giannotti-Garlinghouse of New Haven, 17, left, won second place in the statewide Shakespeare monologue competition, both representing the ACES Education Center for the Arts Theatre Department. Welsh is now eligible to compete on the national level.

ACES Open Choice program currently serves 469 students from 14 districts.
