Hamden ACES Teacher of the Year Does It All
06/17/2013

Liana Teixeira
HAMDEN >> Mother, musician, band member, and now teacher of the year.
Carmella Rossomando-Heise, 34, was awarded the Area Cooperative Education Services (ACES) 2014 Teacher of the Year at a ceremony held June 12 at ACES Whitney High School North.
Since 2002, Rossomando-Heise worked as a music teacher at the Wintergreen Interdistrict Magnet School (WIMS), an ACES elementary and middle school that specializes in the arts, humanities and technology education. When Rossomando-Heise learned she received the award she cried.
“I was definitely overwhelmed,” Rossomando-Heise said. “I guess you feel really good because you know you’re being recognized for something so incredible, and I felt that way when I was nominated, but then to be selected for the actual teacher of the year award was amazing.” -
