ACES Business Advisory Council Members, 2015 - 2016

Glenn Archer, Co- Chair, ACES Business Advisory Council / Connect Computer

Glenn Archer has been an active member of the ACES Business Advisory Council (BAC) since 2010. He was recently appointed co-chair in January 2015. In addition to his work with ACES Business Advisory Council, he is also an active member of the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce where he serves as an Ambassador. Glenn was also honored to be named the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce’s Volunteer of the Year in 2012.Additionally, he served as co-chair of the Chamber’s “Big Connect” Expo Committee since 2011, and as chair from 2007-2011. He’s been a member of the committee since 2006. Glenn is also an active member of the Leadership Board of the American Lung Association of the Northeast, the Advisory Board of Best Buddies Connecticut and the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army - New Haven Corps.

Glenn Archer is a lifelong Connecticut resident, residing in West Haven. He is employed as an account executive with Hilltop Technologies. Hilltop Technologies provides total solutions in telecommunications for Avaya and ShoreTel VoIP products to Connecticut businesses.

 

Gene Crocco, ACES Coordinator of Work Services

Gene Crocco has been instrumental in the development and direction of ACES Work Programs since its inception in 1987 and is the Co-Founder of the Business Advisory Council.

Gene has overseen unprecedented growth of the ACES Work Program over the years that has provided millions of dollars of work opportunities for both students and adults served. He has seen the positive difference work can make in student and adult lives and is proud to have the opportunity to be of service to thousands of students and adults over his career.

The Work Program services over three hundred students and adults annually by providing a diverse mixture of work and training opportunities in over seventy companies yearly.

Gene has received the Business Advisory Councils Vocational Service Award (VSA) in 2007 for his long term dedication and achievements for ACES Vocational Services and has also received the prestigious ACES Executive Director Recognition Award (EDRA) in 2014 for his long term commitment and excellence to ACES.

Additionally, Gene is a member of the Founders Society at UCONN which recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions for the advancement of UCONNS Educational and Research Programs. He is also past Vice President of the UCONN Club which is dedicated to raising funds to support to enhance and support the Division of Athletics.

Marilyn Ferguson, Chair Emeritus

Marilyn Ferguson has been in the New Haven area for decades, and has recently retired as Vice President and Small Business Loan officer at TD Bank. She has taught small business lending classes to both internal and external candidates including annual classes for SCORE, but Marilyn’s contributions to her community extend far beyond her work at the bank. She has been active in the community, serving as ambassador and on the membership committee for the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce for 25 years, and was recognized as volunteer of the year for the organization. She has also served as co-chair of ACES Business Advisory Council since its inception 20 years ago. Marilyn has been a board member of the Hamden Economic Development Corporation for 8 years, as well as Co-chair of the West Haven Chamber Women in Business group, assisting with the annual West Haven Chamber Women in Leadership Conference. Marilyn has also participated in a wide array of local nonprofit fundraisers and activities.

David Litvinoff, Town Fair Tire
David joined the ACES Business Advisory Council in 2009.  He was introduced to the ACES Business Advisory Council when ACES’ students began working in the Town Fair Tire warehouse. He has been with Town Fair Tire for 29 years.  David began his career at Town Fair Tire as a salesman before moving into a store manager position after 2 years. He then served as Town Fair Tire’s Director of Distribution for 10 years.  He moved into his current position, Director of Special Projects, in 2013.

Carolyn Nelson, ACES Transition Coordinator

Carolyn Nelson has been a Special Education Teacher at ACES for 28 years. Carolyn was selected as ACES 2001-2002 Teacher of the Year and received the ACES Vocational Services Award (VSA) in 2013 for her long term  dedication and excellence to  ACES Vocational Services.

For the past 10 years, she has been the Transition Coordinator and Vocational Teacher at Whitney East. In this role, she works with students and families to help plan for their transition after graduation. She also coordinates the vocational plans and the job site schedule for about 75 students.  As a member of the Business Advisory Council, she plays an active role in planning the Annual BAC Employer Recognition Dinner and serves as a liaison between the council members and the ACES community. She enjoys finding new work experience opportunities and advocating for her students.

Leveraging her 12+ year background in the office solutions industry, today Mary is an Account Executive with Canon Solutions America (CSA) helping businesses in the areas of print and document management to drive out cost and increase workflow efficiencies.  Having lost her Mom as a teen, Mary learned early how much people matter and how precious life is which has led her to be recognized for her positive nature and desire to help others improve their higher quality life. This has led her to serve in her community as a Board of Directors member for The Cove Center for Grieving Children and lead women's group in the CT Shoreline area to help empower women in their work and life.

Mary was appointed Co- Chair of the Business Advisory Council in October 2015.

Mary Ann is a Realtor with Coldwell Banker of Orange and has been selling real estate in the region for the past 28 years.  She has been recognized with the Five Star Realtor Award for each of the last five years by her satisfied clients. Mary Ann has given back to her community in a wide variety of roles: as a member of the Board of Directors of the West Haven Chamber, as a member of the Orange Chamber Women's Leadership Committee, and as a participant in many other local non-profit activities. For the last 15 years, she has served on ACES Business Advisory Council, and has served as Co-chair of the Council for five years.
