ACES International, in Partnership with 21stCentEd, to Hold Summer of STEM 2022 Showcase Event
August 17th, 2022
(North Haven, CT – August 11, 2022) Area Cooperative Educational Services (ACES) is excited to announce that ACES International, in partnership with 21stCentEd, will be hosting a Summer of STEM 2022 Showcase event to highlight the work created by students attending the ACES International Summer of STEM program. The showcase will be at ACES at Chase’s athletic center (565 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT, 06708) on Thursday, August 18, 2022 from 9:30AM-11AM.
ACES, in partnership with 21stCentEd, offered free summer programs that enhance a child’s creativity and innovative thinking; all while having fun and participating in STEM activities. The “Lego Robotics Spike Prime” program was for students in Grades 4-5. The “Design Thinking & Entrepreneurship – Sneaker Design Challenge” was geared towards students in Grades 6-8. Both programs were held at ACES at Chase in Waterbury and ACES Educational Center for the Arts in New Haven. The Summer of STEM 2022 Showcase event will highlight all of the students’ efforts and work created throughout the duration of the program.
Students of the LEGO Robotics SPIKE PRIME program (Grades 4-5) learned about the engineering design process by utilizing LEGO SPIKE PRIME. Throughout their time in the program, students constructed robots, used critical thinking, and solved complex problems—all while developing confidence and having fun.
Students of the Design Thinking & Entrepreneurship program (Grades 6-8) engaged with teachers in a co-learning experience, utilizing 21st century skills, which included collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity to prototype a sneaker design and develop a pitch for a potential business idea.
Do not miss the opportunity to see Summer of STEM students showcase their work! This event will also feature a gallery, a custom sneaker design competition, and entrepreneurial sprint awards. Winners in the Design Thinking & Entrepreneurship program will get their sneaker prototypes manufactured!
