ACES at Chase Students Qualify for National History Day Competition

March 29th, 2022

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(North Haven, CT – March 28, 2022) Area Cooperative Educational Services (ACES) is pleased to announce that ACES at Chase Students have qualified for the National History Day competition. Connecticut History Day is one of 58 affiliate programs of National History Day (NHD). CHD annually engages over 4,000 middle- and high-school students in historical research, interpretation, and creative expression through project-based learning. The program seeks to bring students, teachers, museums, and scholars together to support young people, as they engage in history. Mr. MacCarry’s 8th grade L.E.A.P History Class has been hard at work this past semester creating projects for the annual NHD competition. Before even learning of the recognition, he shared, “I’m very proud of all the students’ hard work on these projects. They had limited time and yet still managed to create meaningful and thought-provoking projects on this year’s theme of “Debate and Diplomacy.”

“ACES at Chase students have worked hard on their National History Day projects and I couldn’t be prouder of their accomplishments,” said Karen Habegger, Principal of ACES at Chase, “We have participated in National History Day for many years and it is rewarding to see another group of students take on the challenges embedded in these learning opportunities. Our students worked together collaboratively to learn in-depth information about the Debate and Diplomacy theme as it relates to our world, our country, and our state, through their various projects. I am excited that our students are moving on to the next level of the National History Day competition. We are behind them 100% and will anxiously await their next successes!”

Congratulations to eight of our ACES at Chase students for placing in the Connecticut History Day Hartford Regional Contest (an affiliate program of National History Day).
