Lucia Fonseca Named Assistant Director of ACES International Education

(North Haven, CT – January 20, 2022) Area Cooperative Educational Services (ACES) is pleased to announce the appointment of Lucia Fonseca as Assistant Director of ACES International Education. Lucia will join Director Jason Hiruo on the ACES International service division’s administration team. Prior to her appointment as Assistant Director, Lucia was an English Language Arts teacher at ACES at Chase (the former Thomas Edison Magnet Middle School in Meriden) for 16 years.

"Her overall teaching experience, along with her ability to apply her leadership skills in a dynamic education setting, embodies the ACES mission of transforming lives through education, innovation, and leadership.”

Lucia holds a sixth-year degree in Education Leadership from Southern Connecticut State University, a Master of Arts degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Fairfield University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Marist College. Additionally, Lucia is fluent in the oral expressions of the Portuguese and Spanish languages.

“As the Assistant Director of ACES International Education, I’m committed to revolutionizing early education with our Spanish language immersion program at ACES at Helen Doron Academy,” said Lucia. “My team looks forward to providing excellence in early childhood education for a better future.”

Lucia will be assisting with the implementation of the first United States site for the Helen Doron Early Childhood Learning and Language Immersion Center—a preschool and after-school program that will include full language immersion in Spanish.
