ACES Appoints Andrew Skarzynski as Director of ARP/ESSER

(North Haven, CT – July 14, 2021) Area Cooperative Educational Services (ACES) welcomes Andrew (Andy) Skarzynski as Director of the American Rescue Plan (ARP) / Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER). He will be leading ACES response to the pandemic’s impact on students, school and programs through the oversight and allocation of emergency relief funds. Skarzynski comes to ACES after serving the past year as Superintendent of the Windham Southeast School District in Brattleboro, Vermont.

“We are thrilled to welcome Andy back to ACES,” said ACES Executive Director, Tom Danehy. “The Director of ARP/ESSER is a new and important role to ACES as we continue to navigate through the pandemic. Andy’s overall experience and leadership as both superintendent and principal, are the perfect combination to ensure that the safety and well-being of our students and staff are being met during these difficult times.”

Skarzynski brings over 24 years of experience in public education to ACES. He previously worked for ACES as the assistant principal of Wintergreen Interdistrict Magnet School from 2004 to 2006. He earned a Superintendent Certification and Sixth Year Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Leadership from Central Connecticut State University. Additionally, he holds a Master of Arts in Education from Saint Joseph College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from University of Connecticut.

In response to his appointment Skarzynki stated, “I do have a firm belief in the importance of social-emotional learning and look forward to see how we can use the ESSER funds to support the needs of students, staff and families.”  

Skarzynski assumed the post on July 6, 2021 and will be headquartered in ACES SDA Building located at 205 Skiff Street, Hamden.
