Meet Our Faculty & Staff

MARIANE BANAR FOUNTAIN, ECA dance department chair, has shown her choreography in various locations throughout Connecticut and the Midwest including Connecticut College, Wesleyan University, Winona State University, and ARTSPACE. For more than ten years she danced with Barbara Feldman & Dancers, a New Haven based modern dance company.  She also performed with various choreographers including Susan Clark, Colette Bischer-Choate, Mark Ozanich, Susan Matheke, Mary Barnett, and Janet Lilly. For 18 years Mariane taught theatre movement at the Yale Summer Conservatory for Actors, directing the Conservatory’s Summer Movement Project.  She has taught dance, theatre movement and improvisation at various organizations including the National Shakespeare Conservatory (NY), City In Motion (MO), and New Haven Ballet (CT) and has conducted workshops in dance, choreography and theater movement in Connecticut, Ohio, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.   Mariane has a masters degree in Movement and Dance from Wesleyan University.  At ECA she teaches Ballet Technique, Dance History, Choreography 1, Faculty Repertory, Personal Narrative, Senior Seminar and advises Senior Projects each spring.
