Dear ECA Alumni & Friends of ECA,
I hope this message finds all of you well and coping with “the winter of our discontent.”
I have been asked to reach out to you, regarding the current economic state of affairs, and the consequences they will have on the future of ECA.
The outlook is bleak and unfortunately look even worse in the future. Details are covered in the emails I have copied and pasted below.
If you are in state and able to please join us at ECA for a legislative breakfast on Wednesday, February  22nd from 8:15 to 9:15.
It would be great to see you and please check out the details below and RSVP to Evelyn by Monday, the 20th.
If you are not able to join us but feel so moved please contact your local state senators and representatives to voice your support for ECA as a unique educational experience. If you are living out of state (or for that matter are living in state) please contact parents, guardians, family and friends and ask them to voice or write their support.  If you would please cc me on any message I will keep a file for future reference and battles. Anything you or those you know can do to help would be greatly appreciated.
Read the emails below from Jason and Katy for more details on the brunch, how to RSVP  and a list of legislators to be contacted, as well as a link to a list of all our legislators.
Thanks for your attention and support of our efforts. They are greatly and gratefully appreciated.
Ciao for now.
Dear ECA Community:
I am writing to you with a high level of importance.
Due to the state’s $1.5 Billion deficit, magnet schools in Connecticut are absorbing a substantial impact. In the approaching 2017-2018 school year, ECA will confront over a $500,000.00 budget reduction. This has far reaching results into our programming, staff, and the future of our school’s progress. We will maintain our commitment to continuing our progress and integrity of our school despite these reductions. However, your voice is necessary in helping us preserve ECA.
  1.  We are looking for an ECA parent and an ECA student that will testify at the Education Appropriations hearing on Tuesday, February 21st. Please contact jhiruo@aces.org<mailto:jhiruo@aces.org>directly if you are interested in participating as a representative for our school. We will need to submit written testimonies 10 days in advance of this event.
  2.  We are organizing a series of legislative breakfasts to galvanize support for our magnet schools and to seek legislative support of our magnet school funding that will also carry our voice to the governor. It’s important that we get as many of our ECA families and staff as possible to attend these events. The legislative breakfasts are open to all ACES staff members as well. We know that many of you have hectic day schedules to maintain, but if you, family members and staff can attend, we know that your voice will be heard.
Good Morning,
We are in the process of organizing a series of legislative breakfasts to galvanize support for our magnet schools and to seek our legislators’ support of our magnet school funding.
It’s important that we get as many of our magnet school parents and staff as possible to attend these events.
The legislative breakfasts are open to all ACES staff members.
If you can attend, please do so.
Thank you,
The date for our legislative breakfast is:

Taglia, 22, beat a field of 16 other very well-rounded young women for the coveted title, and will be competing in the Miss America competition in Atlantic City this September.

A graduate of Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Taglia was first runner-up in the 2013 Miss Connecticut competition, and placed second runner-up in 2014. She did not compete in 2015, but that year off helped her win this year.
