We are seeking host families for this up coming year. Please see Jason for more info!
Meet the Team: My name is Cherie Calabrese. I was hired by ACES in 1998 as a Visual Arts Teacher. I have worked in several ACES programs teaching art education. The interest in traveling was cultivated by my mother who exposed our family early on with trips to different places and cultures. As a nurse she travelled all over the world experiencing cultures through the eyes of the medical field. This had a strong influence on how I wanted to experience the world. I have travelled near and far and enjoyed experiencing culture and artifacts from different places. ACES International has enabled me to do this with greater depth and purpose. Through AI I am still experiencing the art of cultures first hand but doing so with other educators and students in environments that I otherwise would not have opportunity to experience. This total experience has provided me a means to grow personally and professionally.

Host Families Wanted: An ACES EDUCATIONAL CENTER FOR THE ARTS & ACES INTERNATIONAL Initiative ACES ECA’s international learning programs connect students to cultures and real-world experiences on a global level. ACES International facilitates these opportunities for ACES ECA. Beside our April study tours, summer exchange projects, and partner school collaborations, we also welcome international students. ECA currently has five school partnerships in China focused around exchange, arts education, and global citizenry, with nine collaborative projects in total around the world (Australia, Spain, Japan, Germany, and China). This year, we have two students (William and Young) from our partner school, The Shanghai Theatre Academy, arriving in late August to begin the school year. We are looking for welcoming and safe homestays in the area that can support one or both of our students during their exchange visit here. The students attend New Haven Academy and transition to ECA. Host families receive a compensatory grocery stipend each month that will offset any costs associated with meals. Our international team is present throughout the year to support the homestay and international students, allowing for a more comfortable and communicative experience. This experience allows host parents and family members to share in a culture, share their own culture, and build friendships for life. This allows ECA to advance the student experience with intercultural awareness and develop new friendships. We bridge these connections through the Arts, impacting students in ways that may be presently immeasurable but have a lifetime of impact in their personal growth! If you are interested in participating or would like more information, please contact the Office of the Director at email@example.com or the ACES International Team at firstname.lastname@example.org. We thank you for your support!
Cynthia Egger’s anticipated arrival to Beijing has generated 4,000 people to register in the festival’s first day for their chance to hear her speak and meet her. She becomes the first ACES ECA faculty member to teach at the new BFA-ECA campus on July 20. The campus formally opens classes in the second week of September. Cynthia will teach a master class to the finalists of a national music competition that started in 30 provinces in China with over 100,000 participants. The finalists qualify to enroll at ECA.

ECA has been part of a National music competition in China that began in February drawing 100,000 participants. The top ten national finalists qualify to enroll at ECA. This will be an annual competition that ECA will be a part of. Cynthia Eggers has been selected to be the face of ECA for this nationally covered event.
