ACES Educational Center for the Arts Announces Fall Open House (2)

November 8th, 2019

ECA’s Fall Open House is a great opportunity for students who plan to attend ECA in the future or to learn more information for those who want to know more about one of the leading magnet schools in the Connecticut

(North Haven, CT – November 8, 2019) There is no substitute for evaluating a great place to study the arts than talking to the instructors that are teaching students and seeing the facilities first hand. Prospective students, guardians, and families will have that chance on November 19 as the ACES Educational Center for the Arts (ECA) has announced its annual ECA Fall Open House. The event, which runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., is a perfect way for students and their families to learn about the ECA experience by talking with ECA teachers and students while enjoy work by students from each department.

“ECA's open house for prospective students and their families is a welcome opportunity for us to open our doors and our classrooms to those young people who know they want to attend ECA, and to those who want to learn more before they apply,” said Leslie Abbatiello, ECA Principal. “It's never too early to come to an ECA open house to experience first-hand what we offer. Once you see our students' creative performances - they'll share works in progress in each discipline - dance, music, theater, creative writing, music and visual arts - and spend time talking with them and our faculty of professional artists, you'll know you want ECA in your future.”

ECA’s mission is to provide high school students with the experience of studying fine arts with practicing professional artists, stimulating a life-long curiosity for learning and a passion for the arts. It is nestled in the heart of New Haven’s Audubon Arts District and since 1973 has been a leader in fostering the education of emerging artists as they develop their unique voices. High school students from more than twenty-five school districts attend ECA in the afternoon to study creative writing, dance, music, theatre and visual arts with professional artists. ACES ECA staff chairs include world-renowned writers, dancers, designers, and musicians.

The open house will feature opening remarks by Abbatiello and then an overview by ECA Guidance Counselor Julie Michaelson and then attendees can visit each department for a more-focused understanding of programs. There is no registration but you can contact Julie Michaelson, ECA school counselor, for more information at jmichaelson@aces.org or call ECA at (203) 777-5451. ECA is located at 55 Audubon Street in New Haven. If the weather is inclement, a makeup day is scheduled for November 20, 2019.
