ACES and the ALICE Training Institute have teamed up to bring ALICE Instructor Certification Training to the New Haven region on Tuesday, November 3^rd and Wednesday, November 4^th. The course will be held at the Whitney High School North/Leeder Hill Campus, 130-B Leeder Hill Drive, Hamden, CT 06517.

This two-day Instructor Certification course is designed to teach proactive option-based strategies to increase survivability in a violent critical incident. The ALICE strategies empower individuals to participate in their own survival in the gap between when a violent situation begins and when law enforcement arrives.

Area Cooperative Educational Services is participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) as part of the National School Lunch Program for school year 2020-2021.

Rebecca (Becky) Cuevas was one of the original team members to implement the Early Head Start program. She has over 30 years of experience working with families, early education, and home visiting initiatives in CT. 

“Dr. Locke brings over 24 years of experience in public education to the ACES. Her commitment to leadership and equity in education coupled with her extensive experience as a superintendent, chief academic officer, principal and counselor will enhance ACES ability to support and serve its school districts”, shared Dr. Thomas Danehy, ACES Executive Director.

ACES Thomas Edison Magnet Middle School (TEMS) has been named a National Magnet School of Distinction by Magnet Schools of America, the national association for magnet and theme-based schools. ACES was one of twelve schools in Connecticut to receive the Distinction designation and one of two hundred and forty-four schools to receive it nationwide.

With the theme “We Are Golden Together”, ACES Education Foundation's 17th Annual Gala celebrates the 50 years of success of ACES and honor those who helped make them happen. This year’s honorees are a former beloved ACES Executive Director and an organization that has supported ACES for more than two decades Dr. Cheryl Saloom and Performance Environmental Services (PES).

“We are very excited that Steve is joining our team to head up our human resources and recruiting efforts. With more than 980 employees, this is an important role at ACES and his overall experience as a human resource professional and middle school principal is the perfect combination for our diverse populations of students, families, and staff,” said ACES Executive Director Dr. Thomas Danehy after appointing Steven Cook as ACES new Director of Human Resources succeeding Carol Bunk who has retired from ACES after 36 years of service.

“We are very excited that Olga has joined the team to head up our Fiscal Resources Department. Her overall experience as both a certified school business administrator and in educational finances is the perfect combination for our complex organization,” said ACES Executive Director Dr. ThomasDanehy. Olga Simoes has been named as the new DIrector of Fiscal Services for ACES.
