ACES Appoints Dr. Sharon Locke as Assistant Director of Professional Development and School Improvement Services

North Haven: Area Cooperative Educational Services (ACES) welcomes Dr. Sharon Locke as its new Assistant Director of Professional Development and School Improvement (PDSI) services division. Dr. Locke joins ACES after six years as Superintendent of the Naugatuck Public Schools.
“Dr. Locke brings over 24 years of experience in public education to the ACES. Her commitment to leadership and equity in education coupled with her extensive experience as a superintendent, chief academic officer, principal and counselor will enhance ACES ability to support and serve its school districts”, shared Dr. Thomas Danehy, ACES Executive Director.
“I look forward to continue contributing to and supporting Connecticut’s public schools. ACES mission of transforming lives through education, innovation, and leadership, and its vision of creating an equitable and socially just world one life at a time is one that deeply resonates with me, and my commitment to equity. Our collective purpose is to ensure that each and every child thrives in our schools. I look forward to meeting with and listening to our districts’ leaders, learning what they need and how we can best support them,” stated Dr. Locke.
A Middletown-native, Dr. Locke has an in-depth understanding of the New Haven region having worked as an educational leader in Naugatuck and most recently as an adjunct professor for the University of Connecticut’s Principal Preparation Program in New Haven and Guilford. She earned a Doctorate of Educational Leadership from New England College, Henniker, New Hampshire, and a Superintendent’s Certificate from Central Connecticut State University. Additionally, she holds a sixth-year degree in Educational Leadership from Southern Connecticut State University, a Master of Science degree in School Counseling from Central Connecticut State University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Family Studies from the University of New Hampshire.
Area Cooperative Educational Services (ACES) is the regional educational service center for New Haven and parts of Middlesex Counties. Established in 1969, ACES strives each day to fulfill its vision of creating an equitable and socially just world, one life at a time. ACES serves its members districts and others through an ever-growing array of programs, services and schools that meet the needs of a changing educational landscape. As a school district, ACES operates three magnet and eight special education schools. ACES services range from transportation, professional development and school improvement services, technology, translation, international, security, and occupational and physical therapy. ACES operates the Open and Magnet School Parent Choice programs for New Haven County. Its programs include a federally funded Early Head Start Program and ACES ACCESS, a vocational and life skills program for developmentally and physically disabled adults ages 21 and older.
