ACES School Choice

As a result of Connecticut Department of Education initiatives fostering educational equity, ACES offers two programs which allow families choice in their children’s education. One option includes open seats in area K-12 schools; the other option includes open seats in two of ACES magnet schools. Click below to learn more about how each option might help your family choose the right school for your child.
ACES Open Choice is part of the statewide Open Choice program that allows New Haven students to attend public schools in nearby suburban towns and suburban students to attend public schools in the New Haven.
To participate, students must be currently enrolled and attending a public school in their home district.
ACES Magnet School Parent Choice allows ACES to enroll interested students in any open seats in two of their interdistrict magnet schools: Thomas Edison Middle School in Meriden and Wintergreen Interdistrict Magnet School in Hamden.
These open seats are only available to students from a district not already partnering in the interdistrict magnet school.
