Sister Cities International
Young Artists and Authors Showcase

Each year, the Young Artists and Authors Showcase encourages youth from around the globe to express the mission of Sister Cities International through original artwork and literature. All students must submit their work based on a designated theme that is announced each year. Artwork is sent from member cities to Washington, D.C. where a panel of judges selects the winners based on originality, composition, and theme interpretation.

This year's theme:  The Peaceful Connection

Sister Cities International aims to promote peace through mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation – one individual, one community at a time. This year’s theme, “Peace through People,” will commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Sister Cities International by celebrating 60 years of global citizen action and impact while looking ahead toward a better future where the world’s citizens can come together and find common ground, prosperity, and peace.

The Sister Cities Film Challenge in partnership with Cinequest allows students to submit short films as their submission piece. New in 2016, the Sister Cities Photography Challenge invites students to share their photography on Instagram as their submission piece.

Sister cities youth are encouraged to submit artwork, essays, and poems PLUS film and photography inspired by what this year's theme "Peace through People" means to them!

In honor of our 60th Anniversary in 2016, we're switching things up and expanding the Young Artists and Authors Showcase to include more youth on more platforms than ever before. Options for getting involved in 2016 include:

•The Young Artists and Authors Showcase

•The Sister Cities Photography Challenge
